Bird sculptures in various stages of flight light up as people pass by them, simulating the motion of birds flying through trees.
The installation features a flock of 3D printed bird sculptures, custom-programmed LED components, and motion sensors.
The boat-tailed grackle served as the inspiration for the physical design of the bird sculptures due to certain shared characteristics between the grackle and the human communities in which the installation is placed: playful, social creatures who nest in groups and thrive in public spaces.
