Bird sculptures in a variety of poses flutter with light as people pass by them, encouraging movement and mimicking the natural flocking behavior of birds.
The installation features a flock of 3D printed bird sculptures, custom-programmed LED components, and motion sensors.
The boat-tailed grackle served as the inspiration for the physical design of the bird sculptures due to certain shared characteristics between the grackle and the human communities in which the installation is placed: playful, social creatures who nest in groups and thrive in public spaces.
